Additional acquisition worth 1 billion won within distributable profit limit to raise treasury share ratio to 14.86%; joint development of medical-specific LLM with AWS begins, with expectations for a revaluation ahead of telemedicine institutionalization at year-end

Bit Computer is continuing its shareholder-return efforts by deciding on its sixth treasury share acquisition of the year. The latest purchase, worth 1 billion won, aligns with the value-up trend running through South Korea’s capital markets. Market attention is also focused on the company’s new-business momentum from its artificial intelligence (AI) partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Repeated share buybacks driven by value-up pressure
Bit Computer announced on the 17th that its board had resolved to acquire 263,000 common shares for approximately 1.00715 billion won to stabilize the share price and enhance shareholder value. The planned acquisition period runs from the 18th through Dec. 8, and the shares will be purchased directly on the KOSDAQ market. IBK Investment & Securities is the commissioned investment broker.
The planned acquisition amount was calculated by multiplying the number of shares to be acquired by the closing price of 3,805 won on the day before the board resolution. The actual number of shares acquired may vary within the planned amount depending on future share price movements. The daily purchase-order limit is 26,300 shares, or 10% of the number of shares reported for acquisition. This is more than 8,147 shares, or 25% of the average daily trading volume over the previous month, and less than 166,232 shares, or 1% of the total shares issued.
The company explained that a 360-won difference arose between the planned treasury share acquisition amount disclosed on July 29 and the actual acquisition amount on Aug. 28. Because this represented a difference caused by price fluctuations, the company was able to resolve on another purchase even though one month had not passed since the acquisition period expired. Before this decision, Bit Computer held a total of 2,470,238 treasury shares, consisting of 2,443,617 shares acquired within the distributable profit limit and 26,621 shares acquired through other means. The total represented approximately 14.86% of the company’s total shares issued.
The broader value-up pressure across South Korea’s stock market lies behind the repeated treasury share purchases. With the Korea Exchange scheduled to disclose its first list of low-price-to-book-ratio companies in November, companies are accelerating efforts to increase shareholder value through share buybacks and cancellations. Na Seung-doo, a researcher at SK Securities, said, “Ahead of the implementation of the low-PBR company disclosure system, value-up disclosures are highly likely to spread compulsorily,” adding that “companies’ advance responses will be important.”
Growth story supported by strong results and AWS partnership
Bit Computer’s treasury share purchases are viewed as more than a simple effort to defend the share price because of the company’s solid results and new-business momentum. Revenue in the first half of 2026 was 19.4 billion won, up 15.3% from the same period a year earlier, while operating profit rose 18.2% to 3.6 billion won. Net income also grew 9.2% to 4.2 billion won.
In addition to improved results, the company’s expansion in AI health care is drawing attention. On Sept. 9, Bit Computer began jointly developing a large language model (LLM) specialized for South Korea’s medical environment with AWS. Cho Min-sung, executive director overseeing the health care business at AWS Korea, said, “We will actively support scalable cloud infrastructure and generative AI services so that Bit Computer can reliably develop and operate its own medical-specific LLM.”
As one of South Korea’s first-generation electronic medical record (EMR) companies, Bit Computer serves as key infrastructure by linking EMR systems at more than 20,000 clinics nationwide with the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service system. With the medical care gap continuing, including the resident doctors’ strike, the government is pursuing a transition to a full-scale non-face-to-face care program by December, making Bit Computer a stock viewed as a direct beneficiary of telemedicine institutionalization.
Expectations for share-price downside support and simultaneous corporate value revaluation
Frequent treasury share purchases can serve as a buffer against share-price declines as volatility in global stock markets increases. They are also viewed as a signal that management considers the current share price undervalued, potentially encouraging improved buying by institutional and foreign investors.
In the longer term, expectations are high because medical-specific AI jointly developed with AWS is scheduled to be incorporated into Bit Computer’s Bitmate EMR program during the second half of the year. If this coincides with the institutionalization of telemedicine at year-end, Bit Computer could move beyond being a simple software supplier and enter a full-fledged corporate value revaluation phase as an AI-based digital health care platform.
