AI-based discovery and development of bispecific antibodies $55 million upfront payment; total deal value of $1.5 billion

AirenDill Labs has signed a $1.5 billion agreement with Roche Group subsidiary Genentech to jointly develop AI-based bispecific antibody cancer drugs.
According to BioPharma Asia Pacific on the 25th (local time), AirenDill Labs signed a research collaboration agreement with Genentech that day to discover and develop multiple bispecific antibody programs in oncology.
Under the collaboration, AirenDill Labs will lead research on antibody discovery for pre-agreed target combinations through early-stage clinical development. Genentech will then handle global clinical development and commercialization.
AirenDill Labs will receive an upfront payment of $55 million under the agreement. The deal's total potential value exceeds $1.5 billion, including development, regulatory and sales milestones. The company will also receive tiered royalties based on net sales.
AirenDill Labs CEO Jen Feng said, "Genentech is a pioneer that has defined modern biopharmaceutical cancer treatment. By combining our AI-based, high-throughput biology platform with Genentech's expertise in oncology drug development, we will accelerate the development of differentiated bispecific antibodies."
AirenDill Labs President and co-CEO Zeping Zhu said, "Many cancer patients develop drug resistance or experience relapse, leaving substantial unmet medical needs. Bispecific antibodies have the potential to address complementary disease biology with a single medicine."
Boris Zeitra, head of corporate business development at Roche, said, "In cancers with high relapse rates and limited treatment options, bispecific antibodies support our commitment to delivering innovative targeted therapies."
