Researchers at the University of California San Diego developed an artificial intelligence model that predicts cellular health based solely on mitochondrial morphology. Trained on 40,000 four-dimensional images, the model classified drugs by mechanism of action with 75% accuracy. The researchers plan to combine it with physics-based virtual cells to accelerate drug development.
