Swiss drugmaker Novartis said remibrutinib outperformed Aubagio in reducing annualized relapse rates and inflammatory brain lesions in two phase 3 trials involving patients with relapsing multiple sclerosis (MS). Novartis said remibrutinib had a clinically meaningful effect on disability progression and did not produce the liver-related adverse effects that have been an issue with other BTK inhibitors in the same class. Novartis plans to share the study results with health authorities, and the company’s shares rose more than 4% that day.
