The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ cancer drug Ziihera as a first-line treatment for HER2-positive gastroesophageal adenocarcinoma. In a phase 3 trial comparing Ziihera with Roche’s Herceptin, Ziihera reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 35% and the risk of death by 28%. With the approval, Jazz secured a market opportunity worth more than $1.5 billion targeting approximately 12,000 patients in the US alone.
