Labcorp will launch a direct-to-consumer (DTC) genetic test that analyzes 163 genes to predict the risk of more than 100 hereditary diseases. The test will provide information on genetic responses to certain medications, as well as risks for cancer, cardiovascular disease and other conditions, with the goal of detecting early genetic risks carried by one in six adults. Labcorp said about 90% of people are unaware of their risks, and the test is scheduled to become available Aug. 3.
