Researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) analyzed hundreds of viral peptides using AI and identified dozens of candidate epitopes that act against multiple alphaviruses simultaneously. The AI pipeline integrates machine learning, structural biology and laboratory validation to rapidly identify vaccine targets with high immunogenicity and stability. The researchers plan to evaluate these candidates in animal models to accelerate development of a broad-spectrum alphavirus vaccine.
