A model that predicts recurrence after immunotherapy in patients with high-risk melanoma based on gut microbiome “compatibility” achieved accuracy of up to 94%. The study, based on a global phase 3 clinical trial involving 674 patients, used a “matching” approach that compares patients’ gut microbiome characteristics with existing data rather than searching for specific beneficial bacteria. The findings provide a scientific basis for developing gut microbiome-based diagnostic tools to establish personalized treatment strategies for high-risk patients.
