Novo will pay Swedish biotech company Nanexa up to 1.165 billion euros (about 170 billion won) to secure rights to PharmaShell, a technology for manufacturing long-acting injectable drugs.
Nanexa will receive 615 million euros in upfront and milestone payments. Novo plans to apply the technology to up to five development programs, including obesity and type 2 diabetes, with the goal of developing formulations administered once monthly or once quarterly.
Nanexa also signed a similar technology deal with Moderna last year.
