U.S. researchers have found that the immune checkpoint receptor PD-1 directly disrupts the formation of signaling condensates in T cells.
PD-1 disassembled LAT condensates through an unphosphorylated tyrosine residue.
The researchers said the finding could lead to strategies to overcome resistance to PD-1 antibodies and the development of new immunosuppressive drugs.
