U.S. researchers found that the two chains of the T-cell receptor (TCR) cooperate asymmetrically to determine target recognition. Using a system that fixed one chain while replacing the other, the researchers recovered more than 70,000 specific receptors across 10 antigen targets. They reported that specificity is difficult to predict from single-chain signals alone.
