Researchers at the University of Southern California (USC) developed a technology that temporarily places a CD19 marker on solid tumors by using ultrasound and hypoxic conditions together.
The technology induces marker expression only when the tumor’s hypoxic environment and focused ultrasound applied by a physician act simultaneously.
In animal models, the researchers confirmed that tumors treated with ultrasound were substantially reduced and that the entire tumor could be attacked even when only 10% to 25% of cells were marker-positive.
