The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Elecsys pTau217, an Alzheimer’s blood test developed by Roche and Eli Lilly. Roche said the single-biomarker test helps assess the likelihood of pathology early in the diagnostic pathway by identifying amyloid plaque accumulation in patients aged 55 and older who show signs of cognitive decline. Labcorp and Quest Diagnostics plan to introduce the test nationwide within the next several months and launch it under the AD-Detect brand in the fourth quarter, respectively.
