Researchers at Tongji University in China have developed a lymphoma treatment combining a 100-year-old cardiac drug with arsenic. The researchers identified a mechanism in which the regimen promotes degradation of the cancer protein NPM-ALK through the E3 ligase STUB1. Because both drugs are already approved, the researchers plan to apply the treatment directly to patients with resistance without developing a new drug.
