The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety referred 13 medical institutions suspected of propofol misuse and 13 patients who received the drug for investigation. The 13 patients referred for investigation visited an average of six medical institutions and received propofol an average of 29 times over one year. To prevent medical shopping, the MFDS will implement a system to check propofol administration records starting Aug. 27.
