Novo Nordisk’s ziltivekimab failed to reduce major cardiovascular events in a phase 3 trial, recording a hazard ratio (HR) of 0.99. The study compared ziltivekimab with placebo in more than 6,300 patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease (CKD) and inflammation. Results from the Hermes trial in patients with heart failure and the Artemis trial in patients after acute myocardial infarction are expected in the first half of next year, but analysts believe the likelihood of success is low.
