The AI framework UniPert-G2CP, developed by Tencent and Central South University, integrates gene-drug screening to accelerate virtual drug screening. Published in Cell, the study mapped genes and compounds into a shared embedding space and validated the approach in four cancer cell lines using data from 4,994 genes and 7,860 small molecules. However, compounds with novel mechanisms require wet-lab validation, and the research team plans to advance mechanism-driven precision medicine.
