Long-term contract manufacturing agreement with European multinational pharmaceutical company runs through 2031 New contract secured one month after 350.8 billion won agreement in September

Samsung Biologics has signed a 93,478,620,000 won contract to manufacture pharmaceuticals for a European multinational pharmaceutical company.
Samsung Biologics said in a regulatory filing on the 2nd that it had signed a contract of this size with a multinational pharmaceutical company headquartered in Europe. The confirmed contract value is $68,754,502, converted at the exchange rate of 1,359.60 won per dollar, the initial base rate on the contract date.
The contract represents 2.05% of the company’s 2025 consolidated annual revenue of 4.5569 trillion won. It runs from the date of signing through Dec. 31, 2031. The customer’s name and the specific products will be disclosed at the end of the contract, in late 2031, under a business confidentiality clause.
With this agreement, the company’s total new and expanded orders disclosed in 2026 exceeded 1 trillion won. In the first half of the year, orders were mainly driven by existing customers confirming minimum purchase volumes or increasing production volumes, while new long-term supply agreements have followed in the second half.
The company also signed a new contract manufacturing agreement worth 350.8 billion won with a European pharmaceutical company in September. The new orders from the September agreement and this contract alone exceed 440 billion won.
The company has brought its 180,000-liter Plant 5 online at the Second Bio Campus in Songdo, Incheon, building production infrastructure totaling 784,000 liters for a single company. It has secured more than 16 of the world’s top 20 pharmaceutical companies as customers.
Quality competitiveness is also cited as a factor behind the orders. The company has received hundreds of manufacturing approvals from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and Japan’s Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA), among others. Its batch success rate is close to 99%.
The contract is seen as reaffirming the company’s position in the European market amid a restructuring of the global biopharmaceutical supply chain. This year, the company also completed its acquisition of a production facility in Rockville, Maryland, securing a local production base with a capacity of 60,000 liters.
Starting with CPHI, a pharmaceutical ingredients trade show in Milan, Italy, this month, the company will participate in Bio Japan in Yokohama, Japan; World ADC in San Diego; and BioPlus-Interphex Korea at COEX in Seoul. It plans to expand orders by highlighting its dedicated antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) manufacturing facility and technology platforms for bispecific antibodies and patient-derived organoids.
However, domestic and external risks remain. Volatility in countries’ trade policies and the burden of raw material and energy costs continue, while collective action has been announced amid stalled wage and collective bargaining negotiations with the labor union.
The company plans to build production facilities of 180,000 liters each for Plants 6 through 8 in phases on the Second Bio Campus site, bringing total production capacity to 1,384,000 liters. Long-term contracts of five years or more, such as this one, are expected to support a stable floor for plant utilization rates.
