Labcorp gains wholly owned laboratory network across four continents Strengthens biomarker and specialty testing capabilities

Labcorp has acquired MLM Medical Labs, making it the only central laboratory provider with a wholly owned laboratory network across four continents.
According to LifeSciencesBC on the 8th local time, Labcorp announced that it had acquired MLM, a global central and specialty laboratory provider operating in the United States, Germany and South Africa. The acquisition price was not disclosed.
The acquisition makes Labcorp the only central laboratory provider with a wholly owned laboratory network spanning four continents: North America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
It will also expand Labcorp’s presence in key clinical research regions and strengthen its biomarker and specialty testing capabilities. In particular, access to the African market will expand, as MLM operates Africa’s first CAP-accredited central laboratory.
“Clinical trial sponsors increasingly need scientific expertise, global access and operational flexibility to advance increasingly complex development programs,” said Brian Caveney, head of Labcorp’s biopharma laboratory services and chief medical and scientific officer.
“MLM will strengthen Labcorp’s ability to support sponsors of all sizes, from emerging biotech companies to leading pharmaceutical companies,” he said.
Labcorp said the acquisition will enhance its ability to support complex multinational clinical trials through a single partner, with consistent scientific, operational and regulatory oversight.
Labcorp is a global laboratory services company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), with approximately 71,000 employees supporting customers in about 100 countries.
