Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has discovered the first metabolically activated molecular glue through screening seven E3 ligases. The researchers identified the mechanism by which the molecular glue 'M12' is activated through glutathionylation in the oxidative-stress environment of cancer cells. Dana-Farber plans to use the technology to induce the degradation of at least three anticancer targets, including SMARCA2 and WEE1.
