Researchers at Shanghai Jiao Tong University announced that Retina4IRD, an AI diagnostic system for inherited retinal diseases, achieved 88.5% accuracy in genotype prediction in a randomized controlled trial. Specialists in the control group who did not receive AI assistance achieved 67.3% accuracy. Clinicians who used Retina4IRD recorded a composite management score of 37.7 points, 28.5 points higher than the control group.
