South Korean researchers have shown for the first time in a 3D model that the order in which immune cells are introduced determines glioblastoma treatment outcomes. When NK cells were introduced first, tumors were suppressed through IL12A; when microglia were introduced first, tumors grew through STAT3 signaling. Combining a STAT3 inhibitor also increased NK-cell infiltration, an effect that could be used to develop personalized treatment platforms.
