Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has entered into an agreement with Sail Biomedicines that includes an option to acquire the company for $2.58 billion (about 3.87 trillion won). Through an upfront payment of $785 million (about 1.18 trillion won) and an equity investment, J&J secured in vivo CAR-T technology and the preclinical-stage SAIL-0839, which targets autoimmune diseases. The agreement puts J&J in the competition to acquire in vivo cell therapy companies, following Eli Lilly and BMS, and the company plans to expand the indications in the future.
