A study found that SIRT5 delays ovarian aging by mediating the desuccinylation of SUCLG2 at K93 and K101. SUCLG2 desuccinylation improved mitochondrial function and suppressed acetyl-CoA accumulation and H4K8ac hyperacetylation. The research team confirmed improvements in ovarian aging through gene therapy and proposed the axis as a therapeutic target.
