A Chinese research team reported that the folding of two of the three Class I HDAC proteins, HDAC1 and HDAC3, depends on the TRiC chaperone. Two cochaperones, Hsp70 and PDCD5, are involved in HDAC3 folding, while PFD is involved in HDAC1 folding, indicating distinct interactions with TRiC. The findings are expected to lead to the development of small-molecule anticancer drugs targeting chaperones.
