Chinese researchers have identified the structure of the RNA polymerase of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV), which threatens 3 billion people. The virus causes up to 2,000 deaths annually, and the researchers identified its RNA synthesis mechanism and nucleoside analogs with inhibitory activity. The findings are expected to provide a foundation for developing broad-spectrum antiviral drugs.
