Workforce reduction is part of integration following acquisition to secure CAR-T therapy anito-cel About half of the 209 employees will be affected

Gilead will lay off 108 employees as part of the integration process following its $11 billion acquisition of Arcellx. The acquisition was aimed at securing anito-cel, a BCMA-targeted CAR-T therapy, and the workforce reduction will begin at the end of June. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is expected to decide by December 2026 whether to approve anito-cel as a fourth-line treatment for multiple myeloma.
